Cheep Cheep CHIRP đŚ
Â
Pine Rivers Park is a great place to bring the kids or hounds to play. Bounded by the South Pine River, it has a very large play area, but also a variety of open areas to explore and an abundance of birdlife. The area is quite flood prone so please be aware during inclement weather.
A GPS receiver with the Chirp function is required to complete this cache. This is a proprietary feature on selected devices and is not generally available as a smartphone app, please check your model before attempting this one and remember to turn Chirp sensing ON. This cache is listed as an unknown because it is not able to be completed without your Chirp-enabled device (as required by the Groundspeak guidelines), but the experience will be more like a multi with 3 waypoints.
At the first waypoint, search for a dogtag with the coordinates for the next waypoint marked on one side. Waypoint 2 has the Chirp beacon, which will give you the coords for the final; the data can take a few minutes to transmit, so be patient; during testing the range was greater than 5 metres. Â Please do not attempt to find or remove the Chirp, it is only programmable by my GPSr. Stick to the paths and grass trails, no need to bush bash. GPS reception may be difficult due to tree cover, so waypoints have been averaged and hints added.
The chirp has been reported as requiring maintenance. I am unable to access the module to maintain it until an injury heals. Rather than disable it, for now apply the following offset to the WP2 coords if you can't get the chirp to work: S+0.108 E+0.149. Maintenance will be performed in due course
Happy hunting, there is a prize for FTF, and oh.... don't forget the insect repellent and sunscreen!
Congrats to EngPhil, Bulldozer72, La Kedi, Selva Girls and Rhyssa6 on their late night FTF
