Geocache Description:

Pingy Head is the first Central Florida (Greater Orlando) traditional/multi-cache (it's been both through the years). The cache site is located near the Clay Pit of beautiful Mead Gardens. Mead Gardens is a hidden gem in Winter Park. Come find Central Florida's oldest geocache and spend a little time exploring the beauty of this park! PLEASE rehide the cache exactly as you found it to lessen the likelihood of it being muggled.

The posted coordinates will take you to a historical sign concerning William Bartram's exploration of this area. The final cache coordinates can be found in the "other waypoints" section of this cache.

Please remember to replace Pingy Head the way you found it. Pingy Head is a larger cache, so it is more prone to being muggled. Please keep in mind that the cache is located in an area that could be considered prime snake habitat (like a lot of areas in Florida). Basic exploration techniques should be exercised.

This was my first cache placement after reading about Geocaching in an Appalachian Trail newsletter. I asked my daughter Sarina (who was four years old at the time) what she wanted to name the cache. The first thing she came up with was "Pingy Head."-So, there you go!

Happy caching! Ger and Sarina
