The coordinates listed above will bring you to the Shelterhouse at
South Chagrin Reservation in Cleveland Metroparks. This free event
is very loosely patterned on the TV show The Amazing Race. We can’t
promise to fly you all over the world and provide you cars to use
as you race from site to site, but we will be holding an event that
includes ‘pit stops’, ‘roadblocks’, and a ‘detour’ or two.
You can choose to bring your team of 3-4 cachers and race other
geocaching teams or come on your own just to enjoy the event and
find some caches. By the time this event is held, winter will
(hopefully) be behind us and spring will be everywhere.
The format of the day is as follows:
Event starts: 11am
Race begins: 12 noon
Race end: 4pm
Prizes presented: 4:30pm
Event ends: 7pm
Teams must pre-register by posting a note to this cache page with
your team name and team members names by April 12th so we can
prepare.
There will be at least 7 event caches available all day, but the 8
race caches will not be available to non-racers until the
conclusion of the race. They will be removed at 7 PM.
1-2 new permanent caches will be located close by for your
enjoyment.
The race course and event caches are being designed to discourage
traveling from cache-to-cache by car. The caches will be positioned
to use park trails. Remember it will be spring and the greenery
will be tender.
This event is being held for fun. There will be small prizes and
gifts and a chance to enjoy spring in the wonderful South Chagrin
Reservation.
We will not be providing food for the event, but you are encouraged
to take advantage of the shelter and enjoy a spring picnic. If you
can bring an item to share, it will be appreciated. We will have
water and lemonade available and, if the weather is chilly, we will
have hot chocolate and coffee.
There are grills and electricity available at the Shelterhouse.
There is a new restroom facility, but there is no water supply.
There is plenty of parking close by.
This event cache has been approved by Cleveland Metroparks. The
placement of all caches have been approved by Cleveland Metroparks.
The Eastern Chums are MiataBug, the Czardine Can Clan (Geauga
Garmin, dbczarina, and Chris K of Geauga), and Carly of the
Cleveland Metroparks.
