There Are Places I Remember #2 Traditional Cache
OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Cacoosing Creek / Cacoosing Meadows
There are places I remember all my life,
Though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments
Of lovers and friends I still can recall
Beatles
In doing the Passed Berks’ Past series, we found ourselves reminiscing over places that are still around, but perhaps changed. We then decided to create a second series of such locations.
I grew up in Whitfield, near St. Ignatius. Many seasons were spent riding my bike to the Cacoosing Creek to go fishing or crayfish hunting. In the winter we would visit the creek and daringly walk on the ice. This park offered a lot when I was younger and provides even more opportunities for current park goers.
At the time I frequented this park, E. J. Brenneman Quarry was still active and on rare occasions I would be at the park when the quarry was blasting. Part of the water feeding into the creek at the bridge came from water pumped up by the quarry. It was 1993 when two earthquakes hit the area, magnitudes 4.0 & 4.6, with the epicenter at the quarry. The community was famous for one day then the unfortunate 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit Northridge, California. The quarry has since close, the land reclaimed and a gated community built upon a filled-in quarry that was an earthquake epicenter.
This park offers fishing rodeos for the kids during trout season. The have a great time and then when the rodeo is finished, the adults take their shot at the well fed trout. During October, the park would host a haunted walk through some of the buildings and grounds. This event was supported by volunteers from the community.
Prior to the larger gravel parking lot and soccer fields, these areas were farmland. There used to be an abandon house by the road at the current gravel parking lot. As a kid, we would dare each other to enter the “haunted house.” Thankfully this was demolished as the park progressed into its current status.
The park statistics are as follows:
