Geocache Description:

This cache is fairly simple to find. Park nearby in public parking lot.

At the cache, please make sure it is well hidden back at the foot of the old giant when you leave.

While in the area, make sure to take a stroll on Jone's Island. Gray's Lake is a kettle shaped glacial lake covering 80 acres. It is 18' deep at its deepest point and contains large mouth bass, northern pike, crappies, and lots of sunfish. There is a playground, beach and picnic shelter. The island was once a marsh but Mr. Jone's, who lived nearby and made his fortune in the new electronics industry during WWII, had the channels cut out and used the spoils to create the "island". The Park District took over in 1976. Lear much more about the Lake at: (visit link)

This area used to be home to the Potowatomi Indians until they signed a treaty with the U.S. that forced them to leave in 1836. In the 1840's, William Gray purchased land along the east side of the lake. His family farmed the area until 1883 when the sold the property to the Wisconsin RR. The Wisconsin RR platted the area which was eventually incorporated as Grays Lake in 1895.

I would like to hide the coordinates for the cache out on the island somewhere. Let me know if you have any suggestions. It is such a public place...
