Das 1922 von Architekt Julius Rolffs entworfene Gebäude ist von September 1949 bis Mai 1950 Sitz des Bundespresseamts. Ab 1961 residiert der ägyptische Botschafter in der Villa an der Kurt-Schumacher-Straße.

Die Villa beherrbergt momentan das Max Planck Institut zur Erforschung von Gemeinsschaftsguetern, eins der 86 Institute der Max Planck Gesellschaft welche ueberall auf der Welt verteilt sind.
