If I recall correctly, E.L.P. stood for Extended Learning Program.
Back in the 70s, the Cupertino school district identified some kids
who might benefit from some elective learning. If you were one of
those kids, you'd come over once a week to the now demolished
Wilson Elementary School and take elective classes for a half day.
We had some pretty cool electives. We built and flew our own
rockets, practiced television production (on both sides of the
camera), did geology and chemistry projects, and much more. We'd
come over to this park to take a break in the middle of the
afternoon.
The elementary school and the program are long gone now, but the
park remains. The baseball fields are on the old school grounds,
and the row of new houses to the northwest of the cache is where
the school buildings were.
The cache itself is a small sign-only micro. Bring your own pen,
and be sure and rehide the cache carefully when you're done.
