If you start your venture at Cove Fort, Utah, on I-70 headed East, this is the last exit before reaching the end at (Md) I-695 near Baltimore. If you are headed North from Pensacola, Florida on US-29, this is the end just a tad north of I-70.
The JOE cache series was started by altosaxplayer, a member of the Tri-Cities Geocachers. The name JOE means "Just Off Exit". This series was started as an Interstate 70 equivalent to the "Loop to Loop" and I-81 cache series that was started in Nashville TN by cgeek.
Most JOE caches are placed no more than two tenths of a mile from the exit and the hint is a dead give away to the cache location. The I-70/US-29 exit covers well over half a mile, this cache is about as close as one can safely park and cache.
JOE caches are an easy way to pick up more cache finds while traveling. This is a Micro cache, no space for a traveler or a pen, bring your own pen and you can have a traveler visit it. Parking for this can be along the wide shoulder on Md-99 or go a few hundred feet and take a couple right turns to park within feet of the cache. Stealth will depend on the time and day of your hunt It is a busy access road at times, Muggles may come from both directions. At some times of the year there may be a roadside farm truck selling produce within sight of the cache. This is a micro - No room for a writing Instrument so BYOP
