Geocache Description:

I need a SCUBA diver to help me recover this cache!

***Update September 3, 2006***

CaverDoc and I donned our SCUBA gear, and hit the water in search of this cache! We followed the branch down and found the cache floating underwater, still attached to the chain! The container was dry as a bone on the inside! We ran a grey line from the top of the branch to the bottom of the chain, so any future divers will only need to follow this line to the cache when finding or returning the cache. If you have questions, feel free to email me!

***January 3, 2005***

Please read the following, this cache is in need of a SCUBA diver! Sometime during the last month, the tree that this cache was placed in has fallen down and sank. You can see in the pictures that some of the tree is still exposed above the water. I'm pretty positive the cache is still down there because it is a waterproof ammobox and it is chained to the tree. I'm not sure how deep the cache is at the moment, but the depth of the water at this location is around 20 feet.

I myself am a certified SCUBA diver, but I haven't convinced myself to brave the 33 degree water to make the dive. If nobody does it for me, I will make the dive in the spring. I definitely want to be present if anyone decides to do this dive for me. I will provide the boat and other supplies, but I will not loan dive equipment. This will be considered an advance dive, so all you prospective divers must have the proper training! Of course I am not responsible for any accidents that occur in the recovery of this GeoCache! The information to follow is out of date, but I am leaving it for memory sake!

Along with Clinton Lake Island Hydro-Cache, I decided to place another cache on the water! Load up that kayak or canoe, or gas up your runabout boat and head out to the lake! Any loading ramp will do if you bring a motorized boat, but I would suggest launching the kayak or canoe from the ramps West of Camp Groung 3 on the State Side on the North side of the lake. The Cache is a small ammo can, with a chain tied to the tree and a quick-release hook to remove the cache from the chain. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SWIM TO THIS CACHE! Please use caution when boating, pay attention to the weather. This entire area is surrounded by submerged trees, drive very slow and keep a watch out for stumps. This cache is not for the timid.

As all Kansas State Parks and Federal Parks, there is a fee per car to drive into the park. You can buy daily passes or annuals permits.
