Canada Day is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the Constitution Act, 1867 (then called the British North America Act, 1867), which united the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country, as well as in various locations around the world, attended by Canadians living abroad.
The event will take place at the end of Stone Pound Lane in Atkinson at 10:00am. The hike will commence at about 10:15. We will parade around Sawmill Swamp woods and hopefully we don't get eaten alive by mosquitos or get stuck in the swamp. Depending on the crowd, or lack of one the hike may take 3 - 4 hours. You don't need to hike the whole thing but you may miss out on the fun.
Dress appropriately and bring your bug spray and tick repellant. Hope to see you then.
The Difficulty/Terrain Rating are just a guess. Some area may be easy and others more difficult. Some bushwhacking may be required.
