Geocache Description:

SLO:

V jami živijo netopirji, jamske kobilice in hrošči.

ENG:

Coordinates will lead you near the cave.

WARNING: If you want to explore the cave you need special caving equipment. Terrain is T:5. Explore AT YOUR OWN RISK!

To find Karst in the middle of Haloze is the extraordinarily interestg, since it is a limestone ridge that has all the features of karst phenomena (sinkholes, sinks, holes, and pits ...). The lone limestone massif ended up here due to tectonic movements and transform faults. At the end of the ice age, water carved a cave in the massif. Belojača cave lies 330 m above sea level and is a 550 m long water cave in Haloze. It lies south of the village Makole, carved out by the creek Sega. The cave is divided into two tunnels, the left tunnel ends after 30 m, but the right tunnel leads after 50 m into a greater hall, where two streams merge. Bats, cave crickets and beetles live in the cave. The entrance is near the abandoned mine Sega, where coal (anthracite) was dug, but it was abandoned because of the risk of ingress of water. The cave has not yet been fully explored and presents a challenge for both geologists and tourism workers. Unfortunately, no one is dealing with the safety, regulation of cave access and protection of cave environment.
