Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. Each cache location consists of camouflaged Gladware container (measuring 10” X 6”). Contained in each location is a log book, pencils, clue card and children’s pirate toys. Some bushwhacking is required, particularly in the summer months. Stages 3 and 4 can be accessed by path or a more direct route by waders.

This cache has evolved from the imagination of one of my daughters who has a fascination for Captain Hook, of Peter Pan fame, and pirates in general.

For as long as ships have sailed the open seas there have been pirates. And for as long as there have been male pirates, there also have been women pirates. The tales of these female buccaneers are as much clouded by legend as their male counterparts, or perhaps even more so. However, regardless of all the swashbuckling myths and legendary deeds, these women were real criminals, who sought an active life from the grip of their oppressors. Piracy offered everything to a woman that was denied her on land. At sea she had freedom and autonomy. She kept her own hours and spent those playing cards, drinking, gambling, sailing, eating, killing, and plundering. No household to run, no family to support, no chamber pots to empty. As I have always told my daughters, “What you do in life should not be limited because of your gender but only by the limits of your own imagination.”

There are three “Ports of Call” and one final cache. As you visit each “Port of Call”, you will gain seafaring experience and move up the ranks aboard the ship. You will also learn a little bit about women pirates of the Caribbean as you navigate your way through the waters. Your final destination will be Captain Anna’s Pirate Lair and her own personal treasure chest. A pirate is never to be trusted. Therefore, to prevent the plundering of her treasure by other pirates, Captain Anna has divided the key element of her treasure map into three pieces. All three pieces of the puzzle are required to solve the final coordinates. Once you have obtained all the puzzle pieces and put them together, the final treasure map will lead you to the Anna’s Pirate Lair.

One final note: It’s imperative that you bring a pad of paper and pencil to write down the encrypted message to find the next "Port of Call" location. Also don't forget to draw the section of the final key element to the treasure map at each location. DO NOT TAKE THE CLUE CARD FROM THE BOX.

When placing each stage of the cache back. Please be sure to leave it the way that you originally found it and make sure that the lids are secure.

So is it a pirate’s life for thee!? If so, climb aboard me vessel and view the attached "Signup" jpeg file to begin your adventure. If you dare sign up, the encrypted message for your first “Port of Call” is included. Also included is the treasure map to Captain Anna's personal treasure chest minus the key element. See the attached "Caribbean Map" jpeg file.

Hints:
Stage 1

If a Swabbie like you can’t figure this one out; you should stick to the land.
Stage 2
If the owner of this cache were an Entomologist, he would describe me as a close cousin to the aphid in name.
This should lead the way.

Stage 3
If you have been geocaching for a while you have seen this method before. Now you just have to find the key to unlock the mystery.

Stage 4
Think on the decoder rings of the days of old and soon your hands will be full of gold.

NOTE: Stages 3 and 4 should be conducted during daylight hours for your own safety.

I be having me a new First Mate by the name of "Hwyman". We'll see how long he lasts. The last one was pining away for geocaching; so we sent him back to land by way of the plank. Congratulations to Hwyman on being the FTF. - Captain Anna
