This dam on the Thunder Bay River was built in 1931 to provide water for the Alpena Power Company in Alpena, MI. For 50 years the flooded cedar swamp still stood above, and below the floodwater, the dead stags providing nesting sites for the Osprey. It was common to measure distances on the flood water by reference to the "first Eagle's Nest", the second, third and even fourth. During those early years it was prime fishing for Northern Pike and Large Mouth Bass.
