Geocache Description:

NOTE: This cache was originally located behind the fire hall but had to be moved due to its close proximity to the Museum cache. Hope it is not too difficult to find. Ask if you need more info. Thanks. ScorchinScooter.

A few serious fires and the original Tulameen Hotel fire in 1904 resulted in the organization of a Volunteer Fire Brigade. The year was 1906 and the first fire chief was J.R. Campbell. The very first fire hall in Princeton was located on the site of the current Overwaitea foods store on Bridge Street downtown. In 1923 a bell, weighing 800 pounds, was purchased for signaling a fire. A tower was built on the corner of Bridge Street and Harold Avenue for this bell. The tower is long gone but the bell is now sitting on the ground in front of the Princeton museum for all to see. In 1930 a siren was bought for signaling a fire. Location I am not certain of..hehehe. April 10, 1947 Princeton bought its first truck, used from Quesnel. In 1948 they built a new fire hall behind the Princeton Legion. The first new fire truck was a 1953 GMC pumper. Then in June 1973 a new yellow Ford fire truck was purchased. Construction of the present day fire hall was started July 11, 1974 and opened early 1975. February 2, 1977 the sound of the Fire siren was heard for the last time as twenty five pagers were bought for all the fire men. Modern technology replaced old school. Good for placing geocoins, TBs and small items. Trades are encouraged. (Original contents of cache are: 1 - small piece of fire hose 1- Tonka Toy Fire truck. 1- FTF Hot Wheels 1- Princeton Fire Brigade letter head sheet of paper. Log Book, two small pencils and a sharpener.)
