Památník byl, na popud místní mládeže, slavnostně odhalen roku 1928. Je zde psáno „Miláček čtenářstva a básník drsné krásy našich hor Karel Václav Rais. Od r. 1877 do r. 1882 učil naše děti milovati vlast a pravdu a vedl lid k osvětě“.
