Bachgrabenweg
Der Spazierweg auf den beiden Seiten des Bachgrabens ist eine schattig-feuchte Oase mitten im Siedlungsgebiet. Hier sind gleichzeitig Naturbeobachtungen, Joggen und Spazieren möglich. Spielplätze machen einen Ausflug auch für Familien mit kleinen Kindern attraktiv.
Während der Dorfbach in der Stadt Basel eingedolt ist, fliesst er in Allschwil – wie der Name Bachgraben besagt – in einem engen, verbauten Gerinne. Die Spazierwege am Bach und dem artenreichen Ufergehölz entlang sind ein beliebtes Naherholungsgebiet. Strünke alter Bäume werden gezielt stehen gelassen, um als Totholzvielen Kleintieren einen Lebensraum zu bieten.
Die vielen Sitzbänke entlang des Weges laden zum Verweilen und Beobachten der Natur ein.
Für die Kinder eignet sich ein Abstecher ins Robi-Freizeitzentrum. Dort kann man nachmittags ohne Voranmeldung unentgeltlich spielen, werken, den Umgang mit Tieren und viel anderes geniessen. Beim Alterszentrum „Am Bachgaben“ lädt das öffentliche Restaurant „Ambiente“ zur Einkehr und in einem naheliegenden Aussengehege sind Zwergziegen und Hühner zu sehen.
Rundgang
Ausgangs- und Endpunkt des Spaziergangs ist in Basel bzw. Allschwil, bequem mit dem ÖV erreichbar. In Basel beginnt die Bachgraben-Promenade bei der Thomas-Kirche, Busstationen Nr. 36 und 38. In Allschwil mündet der Bachgrabenweg nahe beim alten Dorfzentrum zur Tramhaltestelle „Gartenstrasse“ der Tramlinie 6.

Bachgrabenweg path
The walkway on both sides of the Bachgraben is a well-shaded, oasis in the middle of a residential area. Here it is possible to enjoy the natural surroundings whilst jogging or going for a walk. Nearby playgrounds also make this a good location for families.
Although the Dorfbach is culverted in the city of Basel, it flows in a narrow, built-up channel in Allschwil, hence the name Bachgraben (ditch stream). Nevertheless, the walkways along the stream are a popular local recreation area.
The many benches along the path are an invitation to have a rest and take in the nature.
For children, a trip to the Robi Leisure Centre is also a good idea. Here in the afternoon they can play, work, have contact with animals and enjoy many more activities free of charge. At the "Am Bachgaben" retirement home, the public restaurant "Ambiente" invites people to stop off for something to eat, and nearby there is an outside enclosure with goats and chickens.
Walking tour
The eastern end of the walk is located in Basel-Stadt, and the western end in Allschwil. Both can be reached easily by public transport. In Basel the Bachgraben Promenade starts close to the Thomas-Kirche bus stop (lines 38 and 38). In Allschwil, the Bachgrabenweg path is close to the tram stop Gartenstrasse on tram line 6.
