Ari Rigas attistiba Daugavas nozime ir neparvertejama – ta ir sakotnejais, ilgu laiku vienigais Austrumu – Rietumu tranzitcelš šaja regiona (“celš no varjagiem uz griekiem”), un Riga ir strategiski svarigs ta punkts.
