Geocache Description:

This is a part 2 of the tour of Cuba Murals.

A local nonprofit community beautification organization, Viva Cuba, founded in 1984, has a goal to complete 12 building murals along historic Route 66 by 2007, which is Cuba’s 150th anniversary. The project began in 2001.

The Missouri House and Senate have proclaimed Cuba "Route 66 Mural City." This Viva Cuba project is part of a citywide effort to revitalize the original business district and to make the community more attractive to tourists and people thinking of settling in the community.

This cache will take you to 2 more murals located in Cuba. Go to the listed coordinates to start.

You will need to use the plaque posted at the first mural as well as the mural itself to figure the coordinates to the second mural.

This mural, painted in 2003, depict scenes from the life of businessman Al West Sr., who was elected mayor in 1946 for a term of two years and later reelected five times, making him mayor until 1956.

1. To calculate the north you will need to find a 2 digit number AW... Where A = the number of sponsors on the plaque and W = the number of gas pumps shown in the mural...

2. To calculate the West look at the plaque again: if the number of Silver sponsors is 1 then X = 104 or if the number of silver sponsors is 3 then X = 337

Now to calculate the coordinates to the next mural you will need to do the following:

1. Add the number AW to the last three digits of the North coordinates then subtract 25

2. Add X to the last 3 digits of the West.

These coordinates will take you to the ninth mural painted in Cuba. It is called The River. It depicts the use of the river as a source of recreation, beauty, and transportation.

In the chart below spell out the type of transportation you see, from that you will get the cords to the final cache. The transportation type is one word, with a total of five letters. Using the chart below the check sum for the transportation is four. To get the check sum add all of the numbers together that will give you a two-digit number. Take that two-digit number and add them together and that will give you the check sum. If the item was a car then C=2 and it would be “A” in the formula. A=0 and would be “B” in the formula. You will need to do that with each letter of the item to get the correct coordinates.

The final waypoint on this cache will take you to The Crawford County Historical Society and Museum. This is a really neat museum and well worth the time to visit! The museum is located in a rock building built in 1934 as part of the Cuba Schools. One room inside this museum is set up like an old one room school house. Lots to look at inside.

The Hours for the Museum are: Weds 10 am - 2 pm Sat. 10 am - 2 pm Sunday 12 am - 4 pm.

Admission is Free

We hope you enjoyed this cache!

Special Thanks to thunder_monk who helped with the first puzzle.

Cache has been replaced because the tree where it was has been removed. So without having to redo the puzzle we moved the cache to be as close as possible to where the old tree was. So coordinates may be off around 5 feet off. This is a 35mm film canister.
