A point of view in Kópavogur over the Reykjavik metropolitan area.
Here you can see clearly to all directions especially north, west and south. The view includes: Reykjavík, Kópavogur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær, Álftanes, Akranes, Keflavík, Snæfellsjökull, Esja and much more.
75m high, there are glacier eroded whalebacks. The rocks are part of "Reykjavíkurgrágrýti" an Olivine Basalt volcano rocks that came from eruptions during the warm periods of an ice age 300.000 - 400.000 years ago. There are scratches in the whalebacks showing the direction which the glacier was moving at the end of the iceage. The youngest scratches are from the last iceage 10.000 years ago. About the same time first farms in human history were being formed in the "Fertile Crescent" in Mesopotamia.
There is a view dial explaning the surroundings and a sun dial.
