The intention of this cache is to give you a chance to cache while sightseeing ... or sightseeing while caching ;-)
There are only a few caches in this beautiful area - I hope it will be changing over the next years. It is a simple traditional placed near to a nice church. Please be careful when you are searching for the 35mm film container and handle it with care. Because I am living far away I have only a limited access for maintenance.
Old churches are wonderful buildings. But besides all the historical and architectural aspects it is a place made in honor of our god. Just take the chance, enter the church and take the time for a little prayer. Built in 1222, the parish church of S. Andrea was consecrated in 1463 as a marble tablet on the inner second pillar, on the right, testifies. Extended later on, with double side Aisles, it was restored at the beginning of the century, by Alfredo D' Andrade.
The facade, panalled alternately in Carrara white marble and local green serpentine, ends with a series of pointed hanging arches with apotropaic and zoomorphic elements, inheritance of pagan cults. The interior follows the original scheme of a central nave with a cross vault and local serpentine pillars. A particularly venerated relic is the wooden crucifix at the entrance, that the popular tradition wants to be found on the western beach, called for this reason "Vallesanta" (the Saint Valley).
