Geocache Description:

A simple park and grab.

I have a preference for placing caches in natural settings where a reasonable size container can be used and a certain amount of swag and trackables can be swapped. Unfortunately, we seem to be filling up all the good parks and woodsy spots at a rapid rate. I focused on the Thornton Creek watershed with a view to finding a good spot. My scouting efforts were constantly frustrated by the barriers to access due to private property and a variety of barriers resulting from paving over and covering up of the system with parking lots, roads, and developed spaces. So, I chose a spot where I could place a container more suited to the urban environment but near the watercourse. This should not be a difficult hide for most cachers.

I did do some research and learned quite a bit about Thornton Creek. The following was found on the website "Thornton Creek Alliance" which has a wonderful virtual tour of the entire watershed system including lots of interesting history. (visit link)
"Thornton Creek's North Fork first surfaces in the still waters of Ronald Bog in Shoreline. It then winds through pavement and culverts and parkways to meet up with the South Fork at Meadowbrook Pond. The longest of the two main branches, the North Fork is also the most heavily paved and altered. The majority of it is still above ground."

The area is mostly muggle free but be aware of neighbors who may be watching. Hope you enjoy this simple hunt and, maybe, learn more about this important natural feature in our area.

Congrats to scottru for the FTF!
