Geocache Description:

The door of freedom hinges on the ride of a Lone Horseman Under cover of darkness British forces 5,000 strong crossed the Hudson and maneuvered up the rocky cliffs of the Palisades. After regrouping on top of the Palisades the plan was to march south in infantry force and attack the sleeping garrison at Fort Lee. But as the troops gathered on the Palisades on the morning of that fateful day they unknowingly were seen by one who has been referred to as the "Unknown Countrymen"! Realizing the urgency of the moment, accounts recorded indicate he frantically jumped on his horse and raced south (In what was obviously a spectacular ride)to warn the garrison at Fort Lee. There is conjection as to whether he was a farmer, an officer or perhaps a member of the millitia one thing, however we can be certain of: he was a patriot, although to this day he remains unidentified.

This cache is a small m&m container with log and pencil located near a monument dedicated to the Closter Horseman.
