How many times have you stopped near the Interstate and noticed this memorial highway?
I have passed by other highway markers and wondered about the people and their families involved.
So I thought I would place a cache here, because this one is personal.
Our friend, Dave Temple, was shot and died nearby.
This part of the highway was dedicated to him.
Before Dave became a State Trooper, he worked as one of Huntsville’s finest-and a finer officer would be hard to come by.
He did a great barbeque-we were often privileged to be invited to their home on Medaris Road.
He was a great friend, the kind of guy that would do anything for you. He was also funny and fair.
He would get on the CB radio and talk to truckers and tell them where the Smokey Bears were and when he would do a traffic stop, he would say “I told you where I was”
This is an easy one, but be safe and smart.
Park beyond the cache and walk back-it’s a much better way to make the grab.
