Geocache Description:

I appreciate TRUROKR making a suggestion that I teach GSAK in the Conejo and FuefinaWG for making arrangements for the Clubhouse.

Please park on Avenida De Las Flores and take the short walk to the event club house. Signs will be posted at the entrance and inside the community to help you find your way. Coffee, tea, and "goodie snacks" will be served.

Space is limited to 40 people, so please log Will Attend if you plan on attending. If you cannot attend, please log the change so we can accommodate all who want to participate.

I am excited to teach two Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK) courses in the Conejo on Saturday, March 11, 2017. From 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., I will teach a Basic Class designed for beginners or those who are intimidated by the program.  From 10:45 to 12:30, I will teach an Intermediate Class for those who want to do beyond the Basics and do more than "scratch the surface."

Beyond the Basics Course:

I have heard many people say, "I have used GSAK for years, but am only scratching the surface." If this sounds like you, the Beyond Basics Course is for you.

We will bypass the Basics of downloading and installing the program, creating databases, and changing views.

Instead we will jump right into the tools to help you plan, execute, and log your geocaching adventures including:

Show how to use features within this geocaching software to interact directly with geocaching.com to:

  • Get extensive HELP
  • Precisely create Pocket Queries with exclude geocaches found my a number of users
  • Use Corrected Coordinates after solving puzzle caches and lock them so they do not get overwritten
  • Update databases in minutes and acquire FAV points
  • Export a GPX file to a Nuvi in "Sort Order" with the "Name" showing
  • Log your geocaches efficiently and INCLUDE useful notes in your logs
  • Using GSAK to eliminate typing bad coordinates when publishing geocaches

Attendees will learn how to use Macros to:

  • Clear finds from a database when sharing it with others
  • Using the mapping macro to have Google Maps create an efficient route
  • Using a mapping macro to plan and efficient route
  • Several new macros to help plan your route and share your database with others
  • Quickly clear the usersort column or renumber it;
  • Many others that are yet to be determined.

I will have presented this material at the Yuma Megaevent, but this is your chance to receive the information in a quiet indoor environment.
