Geocache Description:

Krajši nedeljski izlet do cerkvice Sv. / Short Sunday walk to St. Florian Church at Tehovec. It takes about 1 hour (one direction) if you will left the car at marked place; "drive in" also possible.

Volbenk in sv.

The church of st. Florian is located on the 685m high hill Tehovec. The beginnings of this church are unknown, although the first written historical records date to the middle of the 16th century. The church was rebuilt at that time because it was struck by lightning. The present church, which was built in Renaissance style, was dedicated in 1548. In the following two centuries, the church was often expanded and renovated. The last major maintenance was in 1788 and this year was also carved into the glorybow. Very remarkable is the large bell which originates from the Turkish times. It was placed to commemorate the victory in the battle at Sisak, where many Turkish soldiers were killed. The church has three altars: the main is dedicated to St. Florian and the side altars to St. Wolfgang and St. Primus. A small house stood once beside the church, which was rented for one gulden and 20 crowns.
