「させぼシーサイドパーク」そばには上五島や周辺の島々への連絡船の船着場である新港ターミナルと鯨瀬ターミナルなどがあり、 大型フェリーや小型の客船が発着しており商用や観光、釣り客でにぎわっている場所です。
港のそばの公園は市民の憩いの場になっており、そこからは沖に自衛隊や米海軍の艦船が停泊している佐世保らしい風景を見ることもできます。
