Thicket, according to a dictionary definition, is a tangle or dense growth of shrubs or trees. The Albany Thicket is the Eastern Cape Biome supporting the highest number of plant species that occur in the region. The vegetation of the Albany Thicket Biome is described in general as a dense, woody, semi-succulent and thorny vegetation type of an average height of 2–3 m; relatively impenetrable in an undisturbed condition.
