Burbank Beach CITO
Located along the "Mighty Mo" and just 20 minutes from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, Burbank Beach is a popular hangout spot for the college-goers. That said, the amount of trash packed in, but not packed out, can be unbearible. There are dumpsters located nearby, yet folks still don't bother to clean up after themselves.
It's CITO week, and we need YOUR help! Come make your mark by cleaning up the beach. We'll meet around 10 am and plan to stay about an hour and a half, depending on litter density. Trash bags will be provided. If you wish to use gloves or a picker-upper tool, be sure to bring them. The terrain is sandy (hey, it's a beach!), so wear appropriate footwear.
The best route to get to the beach will depend on your direction of travel, but beach access is located along 471st Ave (see parking coordinates). There's a little area where you can park, and then there's a short trail to get to the beach. There are no access fees.
Because the trail is uneven and the beach is sandy, use your best judgement as to whether you can participate. If you decide you physically can't participate, you're still more than welcome to attend by handing out trash bags in the parking area, directing people where to go, and picking up trash in the parking area.
I can't wait to see your smiling, helpful faces on Saturday!
