The Cortland County Historical Society, located inside the historic Suggett House, is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Cortland County’s artifacts and documents for the purpose of encouraging an appreciation of the individual’s place in the community over time through Cortland County’s agricultural and industrial traditions.
The Historical Society’s primary service area is Cortland County and provides an extensive research library to genealogists, historians, and the general public.
The museum portion of the complex features a well-designed permanent display, “At Home: Cortland County Interior Spaces, 1825-1900,” as well as a room dedicated to military artifacts from local participants in the War of 1812 through the Vietnam Conflict.
You are encouraged to take some time to visit the invaluable CCHS Library, view the Suggett family collection of furniture and period pieces, and browse in their gift shop.
