Geocache Description:

You've listened to Sonny and Sandy talk about it on the Podcacher podcast, now go do it! World Wide Flash Mob IX - for L.A. area geocachers. Fifteen minutes to rub elbows with your own kind, pose for a photo, possibly win a commemorative geocoin, and then pretend nothing just happened.

World Wide Flash Mob logo

The World Wide Flash Mob Event involves 200+ events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.

The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

The event in Pasadena will begin precisely at 10:00 a.m. on June 9, 2012. It will be held at Eaton Blanche Park's main field. Is this a famous photogenic landmark in Pasadena? No. There would be no parking at one of those. This is in an obscure little park, but it has quite a bit of street parking, unlike other parks in Pasadena which are heavily used for sports on Saturdays.

If you arrive and do happen to find a rare soccer or softball game taking place at the coordinates, please use the alternative/fallback coordinates below and meet at the secondary meeting place very nearby.

Use street parking on Millicent Way, La Presa, Oneida and other nearby streets just south of the park's basketball courts.

Please come early and mill about as if you do not know each other and are not about to take part in geocaching goodness. At exactly 10:00 a.m. we will place two buckets at the coordinates, one to collect log sheets and one in which to put and trade your swag and trackables. At this point, all geocachers will converge to chat and swap goodies if desired.

"Log sheets" (3x5 cards) will be handed out. Please bring your own pen. Participants will sign the log sheets to qualify for attendance, and drop them in a bucket. Your log sheet will also enter you in a drawing for a "WWFM IX" geocoin, a one-of-a-kind collectible (unless you count the thousands of others minted for this event). Another lucky winner will receive the honor of "FTF" for the event.

Fifteen minutes is not a lot of time, so things must be scheduled tightly. At 10:08, we will take a group photo. At 10:13, we will call out the drawing winners. At precisely 10:15 the buckets and the log sheets will be packed up and the event area will be vacated without a trace! Please do not linger! And please CITO any evidence you see. Let's leave the city parks department, and any witnesses, with a positive impression of geocachers.

Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the event. You must log the event within three days on geocaching.com. Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 10:15. The Boat ("The Galley") opens at 11, just a mile or so down Rosemead Blvd, if people want to continue socializing and have a bite to eat at this local landmark (see "alternate waypoints.") The Galley happens to be next door to a cache ("Northwoods") at another great San Gabriel Valley landmark, Clearman's North Woods Inn.

Volunteers are welcome. If you would like to help hand out/collect log sheets, etc., please let me know.
