Famous Five - Llyn Trawsfynydd Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

Geocache Description:

The Car Parking for the micro is in a small car park (see below)on the lake side. If you enjoy a walk, the same parking co-ords will suffice for the multi. If not move on up the road to find a suitable parking.

This cache is part of a series of five famous lakes/reservoirs located in North Wales. These multi-caches comprise of a 35mm film canister leading onto a regular sized ammo box. Each box contains a clue, leading to a sixth lake which is not quite so famous but nevertheless well worth a visit.
The co-ords given above are for the micro cache, in the micro cache you will find the co-ords for the regular sized plastic box.
Situated on the northern shore of Llyn Trawsfynedd are two huge buildings, comprising of the Nuclear Power Station built in the 1950s to supplement the national grid. In 1993 the reactor was switched off and the decommissioning programme commenced. It is proposed that nuclear waste be retained on the site for 135years. A trip to the visitors centre is very informative with an excellent audio visual presentation.
Whatever the benefits of Nuclear Power this must be one of the best examples of "a blot on the landscape" an intrusion on the wonderful surroundings of the Rhinogs and the Harlech Dome, Cadair Idris and the Moelwyns. Look beyond the daunting grey buildings and enjoy the magnificent scenery of lake and mountains around you, and enjoy the cache.
From the Car park walk alongside the wall of the lake to the footbridge for the micro.
Original contents were:
Boot TB,
GPS Case,

Don't forget to record the co-ords for the final and please re-hide cache well. Caution of muggles and Good Luck,
Happy Caching
