Geocache Description:

The ‘Falls of Clyde’ are a spectacular series of waterfalls on the River Clyde about a mile to the south of the village of New Lanark. In the late eighteenth century the falls became a popular destination for tourists of the picturesque, with one nineteenth-century guidebook claiming that "for majesty and grandeur [they] are not to be surpassed by any thing of the kind in the United Kingdom".

The conservation village of New Lanark is the gateway to the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve, which is owned and managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Here you can enjoy a gentle riverside walk and see the spectacular Corra Linn waterfall, where the Clyde falls over 30 metres to the valley floor.

The reserve is host to over 100 species of bird including a pair of nesting Peregrine falcons. The Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve boasts unrivalled views of these wild birds. No where else in Great Britain can you get as close to these wonderful birds as you can at the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. High powered telescopes and Binoculars are available alongside the guidance of an expert species protection officer.

Thanks to the Falls of Clyde rangers for their help in placing this cache.
