stevenson's pond stash Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

volks-man: i visited the cache site today with 'ski' to try and find the ammo box. no dice. record rains and flooding during the winter have apparently removed the cache from it's location.

so, what it boils down to is either mother nature swept it away or some crazy enviro-nut snatched it out of the sensitve cypress swamp (rolls eyes).

many thanks to those who found it in the years it lasted!

Geocache Description:

volks-man and mrs. volks-man's second cache. ammo box.

Pocomoke city's name is grander than it's actual scale. but this little city has plenty to offer. most of the area's shopping takes place here. also, there is an annual cypress festival. pocomoke's downtown area features a few unique buisnesses and sports that turn of the century city kinda look. there are a few parks. there are also some historic sites around. but the city's center piece is the pocomoke river. it is a major waterway in the area. surrounding the river is a cypress swamp, rich in wildlife and such. stevenson's pond is just off the river and is connected to the river by a WIDE STREAM. the pond is as senic as it can get so bring a camera. park at the coords n38 04.706 w075 34.177 and head for the bridge. there is no bushwhacking for most of the trip, though the later part of the trails are sometimes lacking in tlc.

the cache is 50 feet or so from a trail. the only caution is that the ground is always SWAMPY right at the cache site, but not before. boots are recommended but not absolutely neccessary, well placed steps can get you there dry.
