In 1914 the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company purchased
this land and impounded Otter Creek to create Radnor Lake and used
its water for steam engines at nearby Radnor Yards. Soon the area
around the lake was discovered my many native and migratory birds
and in 1923 the area was declared a wildlife sanctuary at the
urging of the Tennessee Ornithological Society and most noteably by
one of its most active members, Albert Ganier.
In 1973, the Tennessee Department of Conservation purchased the
1,100 acre Radnor Lake area and declared it the first Tennessee
State Natural Area.
To claim this virtual cache as a find, go to the coordinates

If you are here when the trees are leafless, don't miss the view
of Nashville from the nearby ridge. It's easy to miss, especially
on hazy days. Be sure and stay on the trail. Bushwhacking is not
allowed. The trail will lead you to the posted coordinates. This is
a beautiful trail and I hope you enjoy hiking it to find this
virtual cache.
