This is one of several caches placed in this state park in conjunction with I Love My Park Day held on May 5, 2012. This was a statewide effort to improve and enhance New York's parks and historical sites and bring visibility to the entire park system and its needs. You can read more about I Love My Park Day here.
Geocaching is open to people of all ages and physical abilities. I liked the idea of a true 1/1 cache: someone in a wheelchair or with otherwise limited mobility should be able to get close enough to grab a smiley.
