Welcome to a steganography puzzle. Steganography (meaning hidden
writing) is similar to cryptography, but instead of obscuring the
message, it conceals the fact that there is a hidden message. An
example of a steganographic technique is a message written in invisible
ink over-top of newspaper text.
A modern steganographic technique is to hide text in the lowest bits
of digital images. Hidden text slightly alters the red, green and
blue colour values for each pixel, but the change in the image is
imperceptible, and undetectable by eye.
The numbers below represent the red, green and blue pixel values from
a bitmap image. Your goal is to find the coordinates that are hidden
in the colour values. You'll need to use the Wiki table of ASCII
printable characters to find the digital representation of letters and
numbers. For example, a 4 in binary is 011 0100.
Don't worry if you're not really into the digital world. This puzzle
can be solved with pen & paper, the ASCII table, and some brain power.
There are small prizes for the first three finders. For added fun/difficulty, reconstruct the image from
the rgb values and identify the four-letter word that is contained in the image. Happy solving!
