The Birds of Crosswinds - A Geocache Series
This Geocache is one of a series of 12 geocaches that was launched in association with Crosswinds Marsh annual Hobby Day and Birds of Crosswinds Geocache event on August 21, 2021. Each of the cache containers has a unique code in the container cover. This code may be entered into an online form. If all of the 12 codes are correct the participant will be eligible for a commemorative collectable. To go to the form click HERE..
The theme of each geocache in the series will be that of one of the over 100 bird species that have been observed in Crosswinds.

Great Egret: Similar in size and behavior to the Great Blue Heron, the most striking difference is the color! Great Egret’s have stark white feathers, and a bright yellow beak. These beautiful birds are known for a set of feathers they grew during mating season. They were once hunted nearly to extinction due to the desire for their plumes. The National Audubon Society, one of the oldest conservation groups in North America, was founded to conserve this beautiful species. That is why the Great Egret is their symbol!
