Hastings Tot Lot Traditional Geocache
NavySparksandtheMrs: It was fun while it lasted but this cache has been muggled. I have archived this cache but I also have hidden a new cache on the same trail a bit up the hill.

Cache is in Belmont's Hidden Canyon Park. There are several trail heads that will access the cache location. The closest is at: N37.30.324 W122.17.807
right next to the Hastings Tot Park. Added note: Although I thought this was the closest approach I have been advised the parking at the end of Carlmont Drive will get you closer. I have not checked this out myself. The first couple hundred feet from these coordinates you will find the trail fairly steep . There is no PO around the cache.

There have been reported recent mountain lion sightings in this park, two sightings within 200 feet of this cache. I contacted the Belmont Police Department and the Parks & Rec department today, 12 July 2005. Both told me no sightings have been recently reported and they have never considered it a major concern when reported in the past. Mountain lion sightings have been reported over a good part of the peninsula hills for some time now. It is just something that you need to be aware of and to make your own decision as to if you wish to hike in the parks or not. Please use caution and it is a good idea not to go hiking by yourself and for sure in the early morning or late afternoon.

This is a great somewhat unknown park in Belmont which provides some really enjoyable hiking. There are also several other caches in this park that you can hunt for.
The cache container is an ammo box stuffed with the following:
FOR A FTF PRIZE: A Uniden two way radio with recharageable batteries and dock. All in new condition.
Spare AA batteries for GPS receivers
Lance Armstrong Foundation wrist band
Sport fishing tool
Star Wars C3PO
and other small goodies
You will also find a camera which you are most welcome to take a photo of yourself with. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE CAMERA FROM THE CACHE. Thanks!
NOTE: If you are from out of town be advised that the hills on the peninsula can be mountain lion country. Chances of you runing into one is slim...but there is just always that slim chance so be aware.
NOTE: As I was typing this cache post I discovered a tick crawling down my arm! BE SURE TO CHECK YOURSELF FOR TICKS!
