History isn't my strong point so I can't tell you much about the pier or the Bridge but I love coming down here and taking my dog for a walk along the water.
This pier offers, in my opinion, the best view of the Kincardine Bridge and is also the site of a large anchor, erected by Kincardine Community Council in the year 2000 in memory of the ship builders, owners, masters and crews of ships registered in their home port of Kincardine who sailed world wide. Records show 108 ships are known to have been wrecked or lost over a period of 100 years.
Although popular with walkers and dog owners, this pier is at a dead end and is usually muggle free with the exception of the occasional fisherman.
The best time to visit is at sunset in summer but it still offers great views at any time of year.
There is a fence in place along and around the pier but you are advised to keep dogs on a lead and children away from the edge as it is a big drop to the very deep water.
When placing the cache, GPS was a bit ropey so please refer to the hint for some extra help.
Parking is available on Station Road next to the swing park where the cache is then just a five minute walk away. Don't attempt to drive across the level crossing as this is for authorised vehicles only but instead use the pedestrian gates at N56.4.107 W003.43.369. Exercise caution when crossing and only cross when the light is green.
PLEASE NOTE: The cache is accessible from the pier by reaching under the fence. Please do not climb any fences either onto the railway line or over the pier fence.
Enjoy your visit to Kincardine.
