Sonoluminous: Well, the little guy sent me a encrypted message last night....

"Sorry to report this preserve is privately run and I have been notified by preserve management that I need to leave my hiding spot after 18 months. I have collected enough information on the reservoirs to be of use at my home planet...."

So, I am sorry to say that the time has come to archive this little guy. I am dissapointed as this is a wonderful preserve, but the powers that be at the preserve frown on any geocaches (even if they are right on the path like this one [:(]). Guess we have lots of other places to play the game. [;)] It is a shame as this is a wonderful preserve, but it seems management don't want to encourage visitors.

Geocache Description:


The little green men are secretly spying on the Mianus River reservoir. This is an important source of water for CT and NY and the little green men need to be stopped.

This is a seed from the Little Green Men: The Mother Ship. You might want to do that one first to learn more about the invasion plaguing earth. The little Green Men are branching out and invading.

There is not enough room for a pencil or pen in this cache so please bring your own. Container is approx. the size of a Pez dispenser (for those that have not found a LGM before).

This micro seed cache is located half way down the path to the Mianus River Gorge so this should give you another reason to come to this beautiful reserve. It is located very close to the path so there is absolutely NO need for any bushwacking. Stick to the trail!

Please note: The preserve is closed December through March 31, so this cache should be considered unavailable during those months.

The "Mianus River Gorge Wildlife Refuge and Botanical Preserve" is in Bedford, NY and is owned by the Nature Conservancy. It is open 8:30am-5:00pm April 1 - December 1. Heed the closing time - they lock the gates to the parking lot at 5:00!

The parking lot is on Mianus River Road at N41 11.170 W073 37.308

Admission is free. Trail maps are available at the trailhead parking lot. If you enjoy the trails and trail map, consider making a small donation in the donation box to help maintain the preserve.

No dogs
No mountain bikes
The preserve is closed December through March.
No camping, littering, picnics or fires
