Geocache Description:

A J Brown Reserve

Alfred John Brown (1893-1976) was an architect and town planner who settled in Appin with his wife Jocelyn Brown, a landscape architect.
They built a house, created an extensive garden and called the property “Appin Waters”
Between 1950 and 1970 Alfred worked professionally in Wollongong. He was the architect of the Church of England Sunday School Hall in Appin and a church warden for many years. When Alfred later developed some of his land for housing it was done on the condition a parcel of remnant bush be preserved. Alfred was also an excellent cricketer and was given the nickname “Stumpy” as he was twice stumped on 99. The reserve was named in his honour in 2006.
