Geocache Description:

This cache is easily accessible for those who may be traveling through Arlington going west bound on I-20. It's small, so BYOP. Right off the I-20 frontage road between Park Springs and Kelly Elliott Rd. You can park on Pleasantview Dr. near cache and off the frontage road, but pets and small children should probably stay in the vehicle. This may not be the only geocache like this, but I've not seen another. Everything from the location to the container is original.

BINY In My Life – Daniel David is the ninth cache in the BINY In My Life series. BINY stands for Because I Need You, thus the caches in this series are for people I need, and am thankful for, in my life. Each cache will carry the name BINY (pronounced ben-ee) In My Life followed by the first and middle name of the person.

In December 2002, our family was looking at the Christmas lights at High Point Church in Arlington. As we were in line, my wife saw the officer directing traffic and said, “That's the officer who has been coming to church (with his family) for a while now.” Since my wife never meets a stranger, we stopped to talk. The officer was Daniel David.

Since we had not gotten to know Daniel and his family, we asked them to lunch a few weeks later. Daniel and I are kinda on opposite ends of the talkative spectrum (I'm the quiet one). Daniel LOVES to tell the story of that first time our families got together. He claims he thought I hated them and was simply enduring our time with them because I 'did not talk enough.'

Not too long after that, Daniel went to youth camp as a leader while I was youth pastor and that is when we got to know each other better. When we got back home, Daniel and his wife came to work with me with the youth. Our families became friends during that time and still are today.

Daniel is fun to be around. He likes to laugh, he always has cool cop stories, we can talk guns (my knowledge is much more limited that his) and he doesn't take himself too seriously. But when I need a friend I can talk to about something serious, he's good at that, too.

There are a number of things I appreciate about Daniel, but if I had to say just one thing, it would be this: Daniel is somebody I respect. If I had to choose between somebody liking me and somebody respecting me, I would go with respect every time. I respect the way Daniel treats his family and takes care of them, I respect his integrity, his genuine interest in people and his leadership abilities.

Since Daniel is a police officer, I could not help but have a little bit of fun with him hiding this cache. The street where this cache is located is one I often see the police set up trying to catch speeders coming down the frontage road...so watch your speed as you approach the cache area.

Daniel, thank you for being a man of integrity, somebody who can be looked up to, a good example and leader at our church...and most of all for being my friend.
