Bring a picnic lunch and join the Georgia Geocachers Association at Kolomoki Mounds State Park, Come early and stay late to enjoy all the park has to offer, including 20+ geocaches.
This historically significant park is the oldest and largest Woodland Indian site in the southeastern United States, occupied by Indians from 350 to 750 A.D. Georgia’s oldest great temple mound, standing 57-feet high, dominates two smaller burial mounds and several ceremonial mounds. The park’s museum is built around an excavated mound, providing an unusual setting for learning who these people were and how they lived. Inside, visitors will find numerous artifacts and a film.(Taken from the park website.)
During the time of the event we will enjoy fellowship over lunch, eat watermelon, have a seed spitting contest, play some traditional Native American games and win some prizes.
***NOTE: Kolomoki Mounds State Park charges a $5 parking fee per vehicle if you do not already possess an annual park pass.***
