The Adam and Eve House which dates from the early 19th century, sits right on the busy A46.
It used to be an Inn originally called The Coach and Horses but renamed The Adam and Eve in the mid 1800s.
It was primarily, a coaching Inn, a stop off for those travelling the Old Bath Road. However, it also accommodated the needs of the farm workers, quarrymen and itinerant tinkers who plied this route.
Apparently, it was renamed to reflect its position - in Paradise!!
The old Inn's signpost can clearly be seen from the road; the actual sign itself, sits in the courtyard of another hostelry in Painswick!
The Inn closed many, many years ago and is now a private residence.

Images of old - the Inn as it was

And - the house today, with the old sign clearly visible.

The cache is sited along the Wysis Way just to the east of the house.
