Geocache Description:

This cache is next to the ancient Kirk O' Muir cemetery. A chapel is said to have been built here around the 10th century, dedicated to Mary around the 13/14/15th century, and used until 1736. No remains of the chapel exist today, but its cemetery is still here. It contains lots of grave slabs, some bearing skull and crossbones inscriptions. The earliest decipherable date on the stones is 1695.

Almost 300 years after the church was in regular use, parishioners continue to meet here every year at 12 noon on the first Sunday of August. The large area in front of the cemetery is used as a car park and the parishioners hold their service inside the cemetery itself.

Congratulations to gcuk for FTF!
