Another in our continuing series of caches primarily designed to be
accessed by 4WD, though can be accessed on foot or trail bike or
mountain bike, just with a bit more effort.
We were out this was a few weeks ago and had found a different
location to place this cache and returned today to finally set it.
We were doing some track exploration before doing this and stumbled
on a nicer spot that would involve less walking. (So the logbook
has a different name on it)
There are at least 2 tracks that we could find to get to this
location, number one, the route we took, will take you past a huge
mine ventilation shaft which is quite interesting, though, if you
take the right deviation, you will miss it, so, go left to check it
out. After that, there may be some bumps and scrapes until you get
to near the Stone Throne. Remember, after taking this route, park
your vehicle over stone and not over the low shrubbery in the
middle of the track, don't need it catching on fire from your hot
exhaust.
Route 2, most of this can be driven in a normal 2WD vehicle, and
then, it would be a k or so walk or bike down a narrow track, you
will now be at the base of the Stone Throne, as opposed to Route
one, which places you above the Stone Throne. This track would be
drivable, if you don't mind a few scratches in the paintwork.
Remember, the shortest and most direct route, is not always the
best or easiest.
First finder can grab the mini digital camera on a keyring we have
left in this cache.
A word of warning about pagodas, they are quite brittle, what
looks solid may infact be just 1 cm thick and can give way without
warning. Where we have placed the cache, is quite solid and safe,
however, you will have to climb up various ledges to get to the
required spot. Take care for two reasons, 1) we don't want you
getting hurt, 2) we don't want the pagodas being ruined!
Take your camera or you will regret it! Enjoy yourself and let us
know what route your took.
