Alderley Edge - Hare Hill Circular
This walk is by kind permission and assistance of The National Trust.
A 4-mile walk taking in some of Cheshire’s finest scenery with woods, streams, rolling farmland and two of The National Trusts finest properties – Alderley Edge Woods and Hare Hill Gardens.
Parking is available at the NT at Alderley Edge and Hare Hill, (Pay & Display), or on nearby roads.
The walk is well signposted throughout, please keep dogs on leads when requested by the signs.
The terrain is a mixture of surfaced tracks with unsurfaced paths through woods and grassy parkland - the route can get muddy (occasionally very muddy) in places. There are some steep sections through the woods so the route is not easily accessible for everyone.
A delightful walk at all times of the year with occasional viewpoints across to the hills or the centre of Manchester and beyond. The parkland at Hare Hill crosses a field which may have cows grazing. Observe normal animal "etiquette" – the cows may take a couple of steps towards you out of curiosity but will usually ignore you. Don’t let your dog chase the animals. Try not to get between a cow and its calf (if it has one). Carry a stick for safety if you wish – it’s reassuring how a bit of a stick gives a feeling of security against a couple of tons of solid muscle
The caches are a mixture of all sizes. Some should be easy to find, we hope others a little more challenging. Enjoy the scenery and the cache hunt!
You could attempt the cache in Hare Hill Gardens if they are open when you arrive there, find the cache details under "Hare Hill Gardens"
