Geocache Description:

The Hampshire Alphabet Chain is a series of caches, but with a twist - the difference being that the cacher who is First to Find each cache will be invited to hide the next cache in the series (if they wish). If you are the first to find this cache please indicate in your log entry (in the cache and on the web page) if you are willing to hide the next in the series. If not then this "honour" will pass to the second finder, and so on....

The cacher who is First to Find will, if they accept the challenge, hide the next cache in the series, following the criteria below:
- The cache name will be Hampshire Alphabet Chain - (the next letter alphabetically) is for ......
- The cache must be somewhere in Hampshire.
- The cache can be of any type / size / difficulty.
- The cache location must be related to the appropriate letter of the alphabet, either by place name or some other relationship - this will probably be necessary for some of the more difficult letters...
- The cache will include these instructions / rules to ensure that the chain keeps growing. Let's see how quickly we can get through to Z...

A short walk around Eling, Hampshire, which should take no more than half an hour. It should be possible to park on the street close to the coordinates for the first location. If not, there is a car park on the other side of the causeway, but you will have to pay a toll to cross if approaching from the North. It would also be possible to do this cache if visiting the harbour by boat!

This is an often overlooked pleasant little harbour, although the approaches from both land and sea can be rather unprepossessing. Eling Tide mill is the only surviving working tide mill in the world, which is regularly producing flour for sale, and is highly recommended for a visit. Opening and milling times are completely dependent on the tide, of course, so you need to check beforehand for the day of your visit.

At the first coordinates you have a view of the present mill, which dates back to the 18th century, though there has been a mill on this site since the early 11th century.
