Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small container with camo that helps serve a practical purpose in a old, remote cemetery in need of some real TLC. The cache is within the fenced area, so don't get on the private property which surrounds the cemetery.

It's possible that you will encounter a cable blocking the road at times. The person who installed it told a recent finder that its purpose was to discourage entrance by people without legitimate reasons for being on his property but that visits to the cemetery were OK. So if you encounter the cable and lower it to go to the cemetery, be sure you put it back and confine your visit to the cemetery proper since the cache is inside the fenced area.

The community that was known as Houston in the middle years of the 19th century was two miles north of Houston's present site. In that day it was a settlement of a few houses, a blacksmith shop and two or three small stores. There was a building nearby called Bethel school that served as both church and school. Today this cemetery is all that remains of Old Houston. * Throughout the years, the cemetery has gone by three names: Houston, Old Houston and Lovelace. **

There are graves of Civil War veterans here, and the most recent grave is from 2007.  It's quite a historic location and could use some TLC.

The cemetery is bounded by private land, so please be mindful of that and stay within the fenced area. And not night hunting.

The container is a simple one which is actually serving a practical purpose for the cemetery and shouldn't be hard to find.

Let me know if the cache needs attention. And should you see any trash, take a minute to practice CITO.
