You are about to enter a very spiritual place.
The Tequesta Indians had inhabited the area near Biscayne Bay along the Miami River. They were hunters and gatherers, living off the abundant coastal fish and shellfish. They also ate many of the native wild plants, nuts, and berries.
Over time many burial mounds were discovered here, it is no doubt the area was chosen deliberately as a Tequesta Indian Cemetery. The recent discovery of the Miami Circle to the North further cements this fact.
Perhaps it is fate that the only surviving structure of the Brickell mansion is the family mausoleum, also located here. The Brickell family remains were relocated to Woodlawn Park Cemetery in the 1950s. The City of Miami has lost track of the Indian remains located here, a true disrespect to the ancient people that once lived in the area.
This space is now spared from further development, the Muggles know this place as Brickell Park, but now that you know the true story, perhaps the ancient spirits will guide you to success.
On street parking can usually be found around the area of 25.768378 -80.192020. The pay and display machines accepts coins, bills, and credit cards.
